In short

eBay lets you have more than one account, but its rules apply equally to every account, and you may not use another account to get around restrictions or limits. To manage several accounts with one tool, connect each one separately, give each its own marketplace, pricing and policies, link shared stock, and check each account's performance on its own.

Key takeaways

  • eBay allows multiple accounts but not using one to avoid restrictions, limits or policy consequences.
  • eBay's policies and performance standards apply to every account, and restrictions can extend to linked accounts.
  • Connect each account separately and give each its own marketplace, currency, pricing and policies.
  • Link shared stock so one stock-out zeroes the product on every account.
  • Check each account's performance before eBay UK's evaluation on the 20th of each month.

Can you manage multiple eBay accounts with one tool?

Yes. You can manage multiple eBay accounts with one tool, as long as the tool keeps each account separate and you follow eBay's multiple accounts policy. eBay says users may have multiple accounts and use them in whatever way works best, but buying and selling policies apply equally to all of them. What eBay does not allow is registering new accounts, or using other existing accounts, to avoid buying and selling restrictions, limits or other policy consequences.

This guide covers what that policy means in practice, how to set up one tool for several accounts without mixing them up, and a daily routine that keeps every account healthy. It applies to eBay.co.uk and eBay.com accounts.

What does eBay's multiple accounts policy say?

The policy is short. Read it in full on eBay's using multiple accounts policy page. The main points:

  • Allowed: having more than one account and using them in whatever way works for you.
  • Not allowed: opening or using another account to get around buying or selling restrictions, limits or other policy consequences.
  • Every account must meet the standards: eBay says policies apply equally to all accounts, and you must meet buyer and seller standards on each one.
  • Resolve issues first: eBay expects you to manage each account effectively and resolve issues before buying or selling with other accounts.
  • Linked consequences: if restrictions are applied to one account, eBay says similar restrictions or limits may be applied to your other linked accounts.

In practice, a second account for a different eBay site, a separate business or a distinct product range is a normal use. A second account opened because the first hit its selling limit or was restricted is exactly what the policy rules out. For whether a second account makes sense for you at all, see should you open a second eBay store.

How do you set up one tool for several eBay accounts?

The aim is that every account behaves as if it had its own tool, while you see them all in one place.

1. Connect each account separately

Connect each eBay account through eBay's own sign-in and consent screen, one at a time. Never share one eBay login between accounts, and never give a tool your eBay password. Name each connection clearly, for example by eBay username and site, so there is no doubt which one you are looking at.

2. Give each account its own marketplace and currency

An eBay UK account sells in pounds; an eBay US account sells in dollars. If you price from a supplier, each account should read from the supplier site and delivery location that match its buyers. A price read in the wrong currency should be rejected, not used.

3. Give each account its own pricing

Fees, postage costs and competition differ between sites and categories. Set the markup, minimum profit, fee rate and ad rate per account, not once for all. If you sell across sites, remember eBay's seller currency conversion charge applies when eBay converts funds: 2.5% for UK sellers, rising to 2.75% from 1 December 2026.

4. Give each account its own policies

Postage, returns and payment policies belong to the account. A dispatch time that suits one warehouse may not suit another. Check each account's policies before linking listings to them.

5. Link shared stock

If two accounts list the same product from the same supply, one stock-out must reach both. Otherwise one account sells an item the other account's sale already used up. A good tool changes every listing of that product, on every account, at once.

6. Set access for helpers per account

If someone helps you, give them access only to the accounts and tasks they need. Our guide to eBay virtual assistant tools covers access and checklists for helpers.

How do you keep every account's performance healthy?

Each account has its own seller level, its own selling limits and its own record. eBay UK evaluates sellers on the 20th of each month, over the last 3 months if the account had more than 400 transactions, otherwise over 12 months. Above Standard allows a transaction defect rate of up to 2%, and Top Rated needs no more than 0.5%. See eBay's seller performance policy.

A smaller account can drop a level faster than a large one, because each defect is a bigger share of fewer transactions. And because eBay says restrictions on one account may be applied to linked accounts, a problem on your smallest account can reach your largest.

Selling limits are also per account. eBay says the current limit is in Seller Hub, on the Overview tab, under Monthly limits. Plan bulk uploads for each account against its own limit.

How do records and tax work with several accounts?

Several eBay accounts do not mean several businesses for tax. If you run them yourself, what matters is your total income from all of them together.

  • UK: the trading allowance lets an individual have up to £1,000 a year of trading income tax-free. If your gross trading income for a tax year is over £1,000, across all your accounts and any other trading, you must register for Self Assessment by 5 October after that tax year. Splitting sales between accounts does not change the total.
  • UK business sellers: eBay UK says a seller must register as a business on eBay if, for example, they sell items bought to resell. That applies to each account that does so.
  • US: the IRS says income must be reported whether or not you receive a Form 1099-K.

Keep one record that adds up every account each month: sales, fees, ad costs, refunds and cost of goods. Download each account's monthly report from Seller Hub and combine them. Check your own position with HMRC, the IRS or a qualified accountant, especially if different accounts belong to different legal entities.

A worked example: two accounts, one morning

Example, with hypothetical numbers: you run an eBay UK account with 1,500 listings and an eBay US account with 600. Both are connected to one tool.

  1. Overview: the tool's dashboard shows 22 UK orders and 9 US orders, 3 price holds on UK and 1 on US.
  2. Holds: you open each hold. One UK hold is a reading in the wrong currency, already rejected; the others are big price jumps you approve or leave.
  3. Stock: a product listed on both accounts went out of stock overnight. Both listings show quantity zero.
  4. Orders: you work through UK orders, then switch to US orders, never both in one view.
  5. Performance: it is the 14th, so you check both accounts' defect and late delivery figures before the 20th.

Thirty-five minutes, two accounts, nothing mixed up. The routine works because each step is done per account, in the same order every day.

What to look for in a multi-account tool

  • Each eBay account connected through eBay's consent screen, separately.
  • Marketplace, currency, pricing and policies set per account.
  • Shared stock linked across accounts.
  • A clear account name on every screen and every log line.
  • Pricing that counts listings across accounts the way you expect; check the plan terms.
  • Per-account views of orders, holds and performance.

Dropizon works this way: you connect as many eBay accounts as you need, each with one Amazon marketplace, and each browser or Chrome profile running the extension is bound to one account. For more on keeping stores apart, see managing multiple eBay stores without mixing them up.

If any of your accounts list items you do not hold, the same rule applies to each one: eBay's drop shipping policy allows fulfilling orders directly from a wholesale supplier, but not listing an item and then buying it from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your buyer. You stay responsible for delivery and buyer satisfaction on every account.

Frequently asked questions

Is it against eBay rules to have two eBay accounts?

No. eBay says users may have multiple accounts. What its policy prohibits is using another account to get around buying or selling restrictions, limits or other policy consequences. Every account must meet eBay's standards.

Can I list the same item on two of my eBay accounts?

eBay has separate rules on duplicate listings, so check them before listing the same item on two accounts. Even where it is allowed, two listings of one item compete with each other and share one stock. Many sellers give each account a distinct range instead.

Do selling limits apply per account?

Each account has its own monthly selling limits, shown in Seller Hub under Overview and Monthly limits. You cannot use a second account to get around the first account's limit. Ask eBay for an increase on the account that needs it.

Can one person run eBay UK and eBay US accounts from one computer?

Yes, many sellers do. Keep each account clearly named, and work on one account at a time. If you use a browser tool, use a separate Chrome profile for each account so their settings and delivery locations never mix.
