In short

Setting up takes six steps: create an account, connect your eBay account through eBay's own consent screen, load the Chrome extension from the app's Extension page, sign the extension in, choose the eBay account and the Amazon marketplace and delivery postcode for that browser, then set your pricing formula and leave the browser open while the first reads come in.

Key takeaways

  • Connect eBay under Channels through eBay's own consent screen; your eBay password is never shared.
  • The Chrome extension is loaded unpacked from a zip on the app's Extension page, with Developer mode on.
  • Each browser works for one eBay account and needs the matching Amazon marketplace and a delivery postcode in the same country.
  • Set a minimum profit floor and check the circuit breaker before the first prices go out.
  • The Status panel, Processing page and eBay Sync Log confirm that reads and updates are flowing.

What does Dropizon setup involve?

Dropizon setup has two halves: the web app, where your eBay account, pricing formula and listings live, and the Chrome extension, which reads Amazon product pages in a real browser tab on your own computer. You connect eBay in the app, install the extension, sign it in, tell it which eBay account and which Amazon marketplace it works for, and set the delivery postcode Amazon should price for. After that, the extension reads on a schedule and the app reprices your eBay listings from those readings.

This guide goes through each step in order, with the checks that tell you it is working and the fixes for the problems people meet most often. Allow about half an hour for the first account.

Before you start: what you need

  • An eBay seller account on one of the supported sites: eBay US, UK, Germany, Australia or Canada.
  • A computer with Google Chrome that can stay switched on with the browser open while reading.
  • The Amazon marketplace that matches your eBay site, for example amazon.co.uk for an eBay UK account. Each eBay account works with one Amazon marketplace.
  • Your pricing numbers: your markup, the minimum profit you will accept, and the eBay fee rate for your main categories, taken from eBay's current fee pages.

One rule to read before anything else. eBay's drop shipping policy says fulfilling orders directly from a wholesale supplier is allowed, but listing an item on eBay and then buying it from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your buyer is not allowed. Read it on eBay UK or eBay US. Software does not make any sourcing method allowed, and you stay responsible for delivery and the buyer's satisfaction. Every purchase on Amazon is also made under Amazon's own Conditions of Use and Sale, which you should read for yourself.

Step 1: create your account and choose a plan

Create an account on the sign-up page. Plans are priced by the number of listings repriced, with every feature on every plan; the current prices are on the plans page. You keep your own eBay account and remain the seller of record. The software never handles your buyers' money, holds stock or ships anything.

Step 2: connect your eBay account

In the app, open Channels and connect your eBay account. eBay shows its own sign-in and consent screen; you sign in to eBay there and approve access. The app receives permission to work with your listings through eBay's official APIs and never sees your eBay password.

Once connected, your live listings are imported from eBay into one row per listing, with the SKU, the Amazon product (ASIN) it is matched to, the current price and the quantity. Check a few rows against Seller Hub to make sure the import looks right. If a listing has no ASIN matched yet, it waits for you to map it.

If you sell on more than one eBay account, connect each one here. Each account is set up with its own marketplace and settings.

Step 3: install the Chrome extension

The extension is installed from the Extension page inside the app, not from the Chrome Web Store. It comes as a zip file that you load yourself:

  1. Download the latest zip from the Extension page and unzip it into a folder you will keep, for example in Documents.
  2. In Chrome, go to chrome://extensions.
  3. Switch on Developer mode at the top right.
  4. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder.
  5. Pin the extension to the toolbar so you can open its popup easily.

The extension is a Manifest V3 extension. It asks for the tabs, scripting, alarms, storage, declarativeNetRequest, notifications and contextMenus permissions, each used for a described feature, and it talks only to the app, Amazon and eBay.

Keeping it up to date

Each time the extension checks in, it reports its build. When a newer build is published, the popup tells you. To update, download the new zip, replace the contents of the same folder, and click reload on the extension in chrome://extensions. Tabs that were already open keep the old version until you reload them.

Step 4: sign the extension in and choose the eBay account

Open the extension's popup and enter the email and password of your app account. The password is exchanged for an access key that the extension stores; the password itself is not kept.

If your login has several eBay accounts, choose which one this browser works for. Each computer or Chrome profile is bound to one eBay account at a time, so you can run different accounts on different machines or profiles. Work lists, manual reprices and orders in that browser all use the account you choose.

Step 5: set the Amazon marketplace and delivery postcode

This step decides whether your prices are right. Amazon shows price, currency and stock for the address the browser is set to deliver to. A UK eBay account must read amazon.co.uk with a UK postcode; a US account reads amazon.com with a US ZIP code.

  1. Click Open full control panel in the popup.
  2. Under Preferences, set the Amazon marketplace for this browser.
  3. Enter your delivery postcode and use Set on Amazon. The extension pins Amazon's "Deliver to" location, changing the country first if needed.
  4. Check the panel shows the location Amazon itself reports back, not just what you typed.

If you plan to place orders through the extension, you can optionally save a supplier account on the app's Supplier Accounts page. Its password and one-time-code secret are stored encrypted on the server, and the extension fills Amazon's sign-in pages but never submits them: you review and click. Without one, you simply sign in to Amazon yourself in the browser.

Step 6: set your pricing formula and guards

In the app, set how prices are worked out: a percentage or fixed markup, eBay fees grossed up into the price, a minimum profit floor, optional .99 endings and per-listing overrides where one listing needs something different. Then check the guards: the currency guard, and the price circuit breaker with its floor, ceiling and optional swing limit. Changes that cross a limit are held for one-click review rather than pushed.

Example, with hypothetical numbers: suppose an item costs £18 on Amazon, you use a hypothetical total fee rate of 14% of the sale price for the arithmetic, and you want at least £3 profit. The price that leaves £3 is (£18 + £3) divided by 0.86, or £24.42, and with a .99 ending it becomes £24.99. Set your floor so no change can take the price below the £24.42 level.

How do you know the setup is working?

Leave Chrome open with the extension signed in. It asks the server for work every few minutes and reads the listings that are due in a background window. Then check:

  • The extension's Status panel shows reads coming in.
  • The app's Processing page and eBay Sync Log show readings and price updates, each with a reason.
  • A listing you know well shows the Amazon price you see yourself at the same postcode.

To test one listing straight away, use the manual reprice in the popup: type an ASIN, eBay SKU or item number, and the extension reads Amazon and pushes that one listing, showing the full price breakdown.

What are the most common setup problems?

The extension's Diagnostics panel shows the connection, alarm, window and tab state and the last errors, and is the first place to look. The full reference is in the documentation.

What to do next

Once reads and updates are flowing, review the first day's holds and price changes in the sync log, adjust your formula if anything looks off, and only then add more listings, either from an Amazon product page with one click or from a pasted list of ASINs as drafts you review before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to keep my computer on all the time?

Reads happen in Chrome on your computer, so the browser must be open with the extension signed in for prices to be read. If the browser is closed, listings keep their last price until reading resumes. After a sale, the listing is repriced from the best reading available.

Can I run more than one eBay account?

Yes. Connect each eBay account under Channels. Each computer or Chrome profile is bound to one eBay account at a time, so run each account in its own profile or on its own machine.

Why is the extension not in the Chrome Web Store?

It is distributed from the app's Extension page as a zip that you load unpacked in Developer mode. Updates work the same way: download the new zip, replace the folder and reload the extension. The popup tells you when a newer build is available.

Can I disconnect my eBay account later?

Yes. You can remove the connection from the app, and you can also revoke the app's access from your eBay account settings. Your listings stay on eBay at their current prices.
