Prime Day lowers many Amazon prices for a few days, often only for Prime members, then they return to normal. For eBay sellers who price from Amazon, that means temporary cost drops, stock-outs on deal items, longer delivery estimates and competitors cutting prices. Plan which listings to follow down, read them more often, and reprice back up afterwards.
Ordering samples from AliExpress means buying one or two units from each shortlisted supplier, to your own address, and testing them as a buyer would before any bulk order. Check size, materials, function, packaging, markings and instructions, keep the best sample as your reference, and inspect each bulk batch against it when it arrives.
eBay allows dropshipping from a wholesale supplier, but listing an item and then buying it from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your buyer is not allowed. AliExpress is a marketplace, so single retail orders there for your eBay buyers match what the policy rules out. Holding stock, or a genuine wholesale supplier arrangement, is different.
For lower-value consignments sent to Great Britain, UK VAT is usually charged at the point of sale, so it appears at AliExpress checkout. Above the value limit HMRC sets, import VAT and any customs duty are collected when the goods enter the UK, often by the courier before delivery. VAT-registered businesses can usually reclaim it.
Reliable AliExpress suppliers show a consistent track record on their store page, answer detailed questions clearly, ship samples that match the listing and can supply your quantity on time with the documents UK products need. Shortlist several stores, ask the same questions of each, test samples side by side and score them before any bulk order.
Amazon prices can change several times a day on competitive products and stay flat for weeks on others. The pace depends on how many sellers compete, stock levels, deals and sale events. The only reliable answer for your listings is to log your own readings and measure how often each product actually moves.
For a first AliExpress order, buy enough to cover your expected eBay sales during the test period plus the time a reorder takes to arrive, but never more than you can afford to sell off at cost if the product fails. Estimate weekly sales from eBay UK sold listings, cautiously, and reorder once sales prove it.
An FBA offer is a third-party seller's stock stored and dispatched by Amazon; an FBM offer is dispatched by the seller itself. FBA offers usually follow Amazon's delivery estimates and often have free delivery, while FBM offers vary more in speed and may charge for delivery. Read which kind you are pricing from on every reading.
An Amazon used offer is a different product condition from new, with its own price, delivery charge and seller. Renewed items are refurbished under Amazon's own programme. For an eBay listing, the condition you buy must match the condition you list, so a cheap used offer is never a valid cost for a new listing.
Amazon UK and Amazon US are separate marketplaces with their own prices, currencies, sellers and delivery networks. UK consumer prices generally include VAT, while US prices add sales tax at checkout. Price each eBay site from the Amazon marketplace in the same country, read in that country's currency, and never mix readings between the two.
The Amazon Subscribe and Save price is a discounted price for repeat deliveries, and it can depend on the subscription, the number of items and the delivery date. For an eBay listing, build your price on the one-time purchase price unless you genuinely buy on subscription, and read the wording that says when the saving applies.
An Amazon stock checker reads the stock message on each product page, such as in stock, only a few left, temporarily out of stock or currently unavailable, and acts on it. For eBay sellers, the useful checker reads stock with every price reading, treats low stock as a warning, and sets eBay quantity to zero as soon as new stock is gone.
